Chesapeake Women's Rugby Selection Policy
Attendance at practice
Our main objective as a team is to introduce people to rugby and to develop new
players. Practice is meant to teach you to play the game and to play it safely,
to get to know your teammates as players, and (to some extent) to stay in shape.
We understand that other life obligations sometimes have to come first. However,
we ask that you keep your selector informed of your availability, and attend as
many practices as you can.
Skill level (for matrix matches)
Our long-term goal as a team is to be a competitive Division II team, so it's
important that we put our best team on the field for matrix matches. (Not all
matches are matrix matches. See number 3.) Your skill level is almost entirely
dependent upon the amount of time you spend practicing. Vets, this means you
too!
Playing time for everyone (for non-matrix matches)
We want to make sure everyone gets to play as much as possible. For this reason,
we will have a B-side or "third half" whenever numbers, time, and the other team
permit. Since not all our matches are matrix matches, we can emphasize getting
playing time for everyone a bit more at the "friendly" matches.
If you feel that these selection policies are not being followed, please talk to
the captain, coach, or any member of the executive board! We want to hear your
input.
